Zellige tiles are a visual language made up of shapes, patterns, and colors. The city of Fez is home to the last traditional workshops dedicated to the preservation and production of zellige.

In Moroccan tradition, they are called Zellige and they are small, handmade glazed terracotta tiles that usually reproduce a geometric pattern and, assembled like a mosaic, cover walls and floors.

For ages, the art of Moroccan wood has played a vital role in the country’s architecture and design. Morocco offers a variety of worked woods, such as thuja, walnut, and oak, but cedar remains the most precious and one of the most appreciated by Johart artisans. In Moroccan culture, it is often said that a beautiful home is distinguished by its doors. Our doors are adorned with geometric or floral motifs of rare beauty. These patterns are traced, hollowed out, and then carved with great delicacy by hand.

The moucharabieh, a decorative style inspired by the ingenuity of Arab architects, can be found in wooden doors, grilles, and windows. The moucharabieh is created from turned pieces of wood that are assembled according to geometric rules.
